Journalism is one of the most respected professions in the world. As a journalist, you are expected to inform, educate and enlighten people with various happenings around the world. It is for this reason that journalism plays an important role in the development of any nation.                                                                With the recent growth in the media industry, it is important that all journalists are well equipped with basic skills like reporting, writing, editing, etc. Journalism can be classified into print journalism and electronic journalism.

Print journalism A print journalist can write for newspapers, magazines and journals. From there he or she can move on to work as an editor, reporter, columnist, etc. however with the recent developments in new media, there has been a huge decline of print newspapers in the west. And there is a certainty that same could follow in India as well.

Broadcast Journalism Broadcast journalism would mean working for radio, Television and the Web. One can look for opportunities to be a reporter, writer, researcher, correspondent and anchor.

Multimedia Journalism With the increasing demand and competition, and more and more people spending their time online, journalists should be familiar with multimedia journalism skills that include online reporting, blogging,  podcasting, etc.
